I wish I saved the process of how I started making these doodles. Sometimes I'm working on a board for a client, and suddenly on the board I will start drawing an eye, or a hat. And I just cut paste it onto a new artboard before I ruin my boards, and continue working on that eye later.

So this is how 'sexy eyes' happened. Enjoy!

Did a cute chibi version of Arvind last night while boarding on a project! He doesn't ever look THIS happy and cute, but I love where he's going with his hair these days. Total samurai! 

And you'll never get to see him this chubby and cute because of his pahadi genes. Enjoy!

Musica è vita!

Did a fun sketch of a musical man! Had a real fun time painting this guy. I realised how weak my lighting sense is! The initial sketch had some really messed up lighting with multiple light sources! Arvind helped me out with the shadows and I went ahead wit what it looks like right now.

Hope I'll be finishing the other two characters I drew along with this guy!

The title if the post means - 'Music is Life' in Italian. Enjoy! :)

Prisoners Character Study

11th July '15
Did a quick character study on Hugh Jackman in Prisoners. I should def do this more often, there is a lot of learning involved. Hugh Jackman is such a great actor, and I absolutely love this film and the character he plays in it.

I am learning how to quickly capture a character in drawing, and I hope soon I can make a very readable character design off it.

Sebastião Salgado - TED Talk on The silent drama of photography

This isn't related to art, but it's so important that I had to share it on as many platforms possible.
What an absolutely insightful, thought-provoking and inspiring story. I hope this spreads like wildfire and touches people the way it touched me. Humanity has gone at all lengths to destroy itself. I really hope for once, we reconstruct to restore balance.

Please send this to as many people as you can to create awareness, and hopefully it would reach governments and important officials who can help us plant more trees and kill fewer animals.

Mad Max - Fury Road Review

17^th May 2015 Mad Max – Fury Road

Mad Max is the 4^th film in the Mad Max series directed, produced and written by George Miller. We went to see the film in Inox Screen 1 with Dolby ATMOS sound. I couldn’t be more lucky to have seen it there.  This is evidently the BEST action film I’ve seen in all of time. The film is based in a post-apocalyptic world where humans have now become a wild inhumane race. In a stark desert landscape, the story is about journey of two rebels, Mad Max – a blood bank for the War Boys, and Imperator Furiosa on a wild ride to escape from the Citadel with their ruler (Immortan Joe)’s child brides in desperate hope for a better home. 

The film’s characters are so well rounded and their goals are so evident. The film is thrilling with some glorious visual effects. But what I was absolutely floored by was the fully rounded world that was created in the film. Everything seemed to have been so well thought out, from the vehicle rigs, the characters, tribes, landscapes, costumes - right till the colloquium. Sayings like ‘Witness me’ used by the War Boys was used so dramatically and timely.

The camera work, staging, and colour palettes were absolutely cinematic. I couldn’t stress on how important it is that audiences should watch this in a good theatre with a great screen and sound. George Miller has done such a fantastic job directing that you are always with the characters, jumping with them, feeling vengeful with them and feeling despair with them.

Lastly I’d like to mention the sound. The score is absolutely thrilling and jolting and keeps you at the edge of your seat. The sound design is just spot on, and watching it in a Dolby ATMOS theatre really made it a complete compelling experience.

After a little fishing I found out that George Miller has directed 3 more before this and now I’m definitely going to watch the remaining three. I really think the world designed is comparable to Avatar or the Star Wars Franchises. I’m giving this film a 10/10 on IMDB. I may change that opinion after my 2^nd watch but for now, I’m so awed!!

The Gift - Animated Short

That's two films in a week I've seen which are AMAZING and with the same name!

This film is SO touching. I couldn't relate to it more. It's beautiful how they've shown true love in such a pure form. I guess it teaches us on how we should treat others and be treated ourselves. Absolutely beautifully directed and animated. :)

Gift - Adopt Wisely

I had to share this.

It's been a long time since I saw some genuinely moving and effective film. This one's close to me because it's got to do with animal welfare.

For the past few months I have been considering doing social work fulltime when there are no animation projects going on. I'm still in the process of figuring out how to contribute. Hopefully Ill be making films like these.

In creative fields we never know whether our work affects people or changes the way we look at things. I hope someday I can do that through my work, even if it's over the course of a year or a lifetime.

Back to basics

It's been forever since an update. Every now and then we need to do speedpaintings to keep the ragas of art going. But that's when we're not too far behind. When we're too far behind, we need to go back to basics. i.e: Gestures. After what felt like years, me, Saatchi and Arvind sat down and sketched gestures together. My lines dont have the same flow or speed, but after the first page I definitely started getting the rhythm back. Atleast that's what I think. Here're those 3 pages.

SP#02 - Storm

It was SO SO hard to get the form and the colours of the clouds right. Daym, I don't know how those Vis Dev artists do it. After a bit of basic round brush strokes I had to use a textured brush to give it a bit of clarity. It looked a bit too incomplete and too abstract. 37 minutes just flew doing this one.
Was hoping to keep it under 30 minutes tho!

Did a speedpainting after REALLY long! It's been forever! I hope I keep this up. This is SP#01 for NY 2015! This owl didn't end up looking like the reference, but I think my eye either saturates things or desaturates them. Either ways he still looks like a really cute fluffball! >_<

Happy New Year 2015!

And a very happy new year to all!! I've been having the best of everything. Work is balanced with play so far - been travelling so much whenever a project ends! There's been a huge mixed variety of work we've been doing so far. Hopefully this year we'll kickstart with some great animation projects!

I finished my Professional Storyboarding Course with CGMA Academy and working on some commercial as well as personal work! Unfortunately everything we've got is still confidential until release, so will only be able to share that later. I only hope I manange to squeeze in time for personal work and fitness now! And then I'd have nothing to complain about. ;)
